Of Montreal

11/4/13

Imagine a dark venue with fans chatting excitedly. The dimmed lights turn into bright blue lights, and screams ignite the room. The band walks out, with a man in a creepy looking face mask. He says, "Introducing the only man who can't eat steak because the cow comes back to life in his mouth... Kevin Barnes!" And everyone goes nuts as the legendary lead singer in Of Montreal dances on stage.

This performance was unforgettable. There were props, dancers, and visual arts. They twirled umbrellas and reflected pictures on them to make it move with the music. It blended so perfectly. Their music wasn't just fun tunes to listen to, but they shared a story. The style was inspiring and creative. We all experienced a true, genuine group tonight.

King Khan & the Shrines

10/18/13

First off, if you haven't heard of King Khan you are doing something wrong. Just kidding, but really. Look them up. This group of musicians was something really special.

Lead singer, King Khan himself, walked on stage with a flag in hand. The awe-strucken crowd was chanting and yelling at the top of their lungs. It was as though their king had just stepped before them. The music boomed. Madness and excitement erupted.

Fans were reaching for the band members, trying to touch their guitars and give them high fives. It was a worship fest. I understand why though.. the show was incredible! It was a mixture of saxophones, electric riffs, singing, and screaming. Khan's voice reminded me of a modern day Bono. His voice range was more than impressive, and he made it look so easy.

I would definitely see these guys again, in a heartbeat.
